Ducted TWIN
This is an example of how easy it is to duct from the Blowbox TWIN using commonly available, inexpensive 4" soft ducts.
The temperature was 98 degrees in the shade.
This setup consisted of a small amount of ice in a cooler bag feeding my new Ryobi 18V powered Blowbox TWIN fitted with 7' of uninsulated soft ducts cooling two chairs representing pilot and copilot seats.
In the sun and with the ducts laying on hot pavement, the air at the nozzles was 68 degrees - 15 - 20 degrees warmer than at the unit. A better way to go with this length of ducting would be using the insulated version that does a much better job.

      Hello DJ, My website frankencooler.com has in-depth information on the models I offer, both component packages as well as built units. It also has numerous videos and a FAQ section that addresses the weaknesses and strengths of these things. Please get back with any questions! Thank You, Bob

    I am looking into building one of these myself and would appreciate info on battery life using these high powered fans and a pump on just one battery. In my research this is not capable on a single battery alone, especially the one of the size I see in your lid. One battery for about 2AH maybe depending on your amp draw but not for much longer than that with out plugin it in. Love the video and am using a lot of your design for mine but will be going with a AC to DC 12v convertor for anything lasting over 2 hours of use.

      Hello, I used a 12Ah battery for this test but I was utilizing a 24V pump which pulls approximately 1.5 amps less than the more powerful 12V pumps I am now using. Total amp draw for my dual blower units, both cooler-based like the one in this video, and my Blowbox TWIN models is 7.5 amps between blowers and pump. With this same 12Ah battery I would expect a runtime of approximately 5 - 5. 25 hours.

    WOW !!! So, you're saying that this thing ran continuously for 7 hours (and could've run longer) with no need to: change the batter ... or ... add more ice ... or ... drain the water??? Amazing. I'm thinking that this would be a great solution for a small airplane. Cheers, Chuck (NE Florida) : +)

    Really like this design, takes advantage of the thermal mass of a water cooling loop to keep the ice cold longer and prevents all that humidity from getting kicked out into the ambient air. :D

      These are not good for cooling larger volumes of air because they are too inefficient to overcome heat radiating through roof and especially windows in high temps. These need to be in your general area blowing toward you to provide effective cooling.

    I saw you had 35 pounds of ice in cooler. How many gallons of water did you initially put in to get water pump circulating cold water through the system?

    • @Frankencooler
      @Frankencooler 5 лет назад

      For this test, it took 2 gallons to cover the pump. If I had done it right and used all blocks, it would have taken approximately half that amount and my duration would have been longer. It's important to note that I always use refrigerated water. Tap water will immediately take out a third of the ice.

      Big battery - 12 Ah. It will run a two blower cooler a little over 7 hours - longer than the ice lasts.

    So have you tried this indoors or in a tent. Curious to see how well it does.

    • @ScooterVanNeuter
      @ScooterVanNeuter 5 лет назад

      It works well in a tent as long as it's not a really big one. As for regular house rooms, It's not efficient enough to effectively cool them in my opinion. It will drop the temperature, but it takes a while and if there's windows or high ceilings, the reduction isn't great. Where this cooler works great is for spot cooling (blowing air directly at people) in off the grid locations. If you have access to electricity, a portable AC will always be better.

    • @TykeMison_
      @TykeMison_ 5 лет назад

      @@ScooterVanNeuter I fail to see how this is not a functional single room cooler. It works phenominally outdoors, where it is being beaten by sunlight and sucking in high ambient temperature air. In a room the unit would be shaded, dealing with lower ambient temperatures (at least in my relatively well insulated house, it takes until 5PM for the house to be as hot as the outside). The cooler would then also become more and more efficient as the room temperature decreases, lowering the intake air, making the ice last longer, and making the exhaust air colder. I imagine a cooler like that is perfect for my 25*18 living room, it's just a matter of feeding it ice bags/packs every day.
